Norris Edges Out Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by one point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the points battle, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he rotated at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before rotating through the gravel trap, and was blessed to avoid just a light touch of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the quick descending corner leading to the final bend on to the main straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619secs off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
